You could say that David has royal connections: he spent several student holidays working in the kitchens of Royal Households: Buckingham Palace, Sandringham and Balmoral.
Before training to be a vicar, David did a degree in Business Studies prior to working for 7 years in Public Relations. He managed the PR accounts for a range of major companies, including Commercial Union and the whisky label Classic Malts (United Distillers). His crisis management skills led him to assist in re-establishing Windsor Castle as a popular visitors’ centre after the disastrous fire of 1992.
On leaving PR, David trained for the Church of England ministry at Oak Hill Theological College in Cockfosters. He went on to work as a curate in Bebington on the Wirral and most recently All Saints, Danehill, East Sussex, where he was vicar for nine years.
Mary, David’s wife, is a professional cellist and plays regularly with the concert orchestra of All Souls’ Church, Langham Place. In the past Mary has played with the Moscow City Ballet, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and once as a backing musician for Cliff Richard!
David and Mary have four children – Dan, Emily, Chloe and Sophie.
