‘Thy Kingdom Come’: Prayer Week: 9th- 14th May 2016
“Jesus Christ calls every person to follow him. As Christians it’s our duty and joy to share that invitation. That’s why we are inviting every church in England to join a week of prayer this Pentecost. Let’s pray for every Christian to receive new confidence and joy in sharing this life-transforming faith.” Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury
What is the Prayer Week about? One of the foundations of the early church was prayer – passionate prayers said by followers of Jesus interceding for the world and those around them. As part of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York’s call to pray for the nation, called Thy Kingdom Come, from 9-14 May 2016 we want to invite the Christ Church family to join with churches across the country and pray for our communities, our schools, our leaders and for those in our lives who don’t know Christ.
What will it involve? During the week we will have a prayer room set up in The Junction. This will be a space for you to come and pray in quiet and spend time in God’s presence. The room will be open from 6am-10pm every day, and you can sign up to pray for an hour by visiting this link: bit.ly/25KOxq3
We would love to see the church family commit to filling all of these slots and saturate this week in prayer.
We will also have sessions each evening of the week focussing on specific areas for prayer:
Monday 9 May Prayer for schools and young people
Tuesday 10 May Prayer for the world (Input)
Wednesday 11 May Pray for local communities (prayer walk)
Thursday 12 May Prayer for five friends
Friday 13 May Prayer for the church
Saturday 14 May Commissioning celebration
