Dear YPFers & families,
Happy 2017! It’s time to start talking summer holidays. Who’s up for a week of camping, dancing, late night chats under the stars, burger vans, worship, teaching and more of the same jokes from Pilav?! Soul Survivor 2017, in the new Peterborough location, is set to be a blast. I can’t wait.
Dates: 19th – 23rd/24th August
The dates of the festival are Saturday 19th – Wednesday 23rd August. The festival ends at 11.30 pm on the 23rd and GCSE results days is Thursday 24th. Our travel arrangements will allow GCSE students to be back by 8.30am on Thursday morning. This may mean leaving (very) late on Wednesday evening or setting off (very) early on Thursday morning. I’ll be in touch with more information nearer the time.
Costs: book early for discounted prices
There will be two payments to make for this trip. One is the costs of the festival ticket and the other is a payment to Christ Church to cover the costs of food and transport. The ticket prices are listed below and we estimate that the second payment will roughly £80.00 per person. Please let me know if money is an issue which may prevent you joining us. We have a small bursary which may be able to help with this.
Here are the festival costs per person:
Book online before 31st January, £94.00 Book online from 1st February to 2nd May, £104. Thereafter it will be £114.
To sign up for the holiday, please visit: https://booking.soulsurvivor.com/ From the list of events select ‘Soul Survivor Week B 2017’. You will need to create an account if you have not previously booked with Soul Survivor. Part way through the booking process you will be asked to give the group leader’s email address in order to join our group. Please put in firstname.lastname@example.org This is the only way you will be ‘listed’ with our group, so it’s important you get this part of the application process right.
We organise catering for the week but ask that young people to organise their own tents. Don’t forget to be considerate and inclusive while negotiating tent sharing. We don’t want anyone to feel left out. When you come to book, it will ask you how many tents you’re bringing. This doesn’t need to be specific. It is so that Soul Survivor can allocate camping space to us. (If you’re unsure, better to say that you’re bringing a big one!)
The campsite is divided into coloured areas and each area is broken down in a numbered ‘village’. Most villages have between 50-100 people staying on them. Each village is looked after by a ‘village host’. Stewards patrol the site at night. Soul Survivor rules, as well as our IMPACT youth rules, state that members of the opposite sex cannot share a tent unless they are married. Soul Survivor also stipulates that alcohol is not permitted on site. We will have at least 1 person over 18 with us for every 6 under eighteen. Our youth team are all CRB checked.
The address of the showground is: East of England Showground, Peterborough, PE2 6HE
