The Glory of God revealed
v7 Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” He said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
This vision of Divine glory follows after the confession of Jesus by Peter (16:13 – 17) and the prediction of Jesus’ death (16:21-22). This revelation of glory reminds us of the words of Jesus after His resurrection: “Ought not the Christ to suffer all these things and enter into His glory?” (Luke 24:26)
The hope of glory is ours because of what Jesus has done. We are reminded in this passage that there was a boy who was suffering terrible attacks from an evil spirit. The mountain top seems far away from this scene of anguish, but the victory of Jesus is thereby guaranteed.
Dear Lord Jesus, help me to remember constantly that you were not diverted from the purpose of your coming. Please help me to be as single-minded. Amen
