Going Deeper

Going Deeper is a community of young people in school year 6-9 who meet on Tuesday evenings to catch up with mates, make new friends, hang out and most importantly meet with Jesus.  Going Deeper attracts a number of young people who are not be from church families. It is the most appropriate entry level programme in our youth ministry for young people age 10-14. We encourage those at football to join us at Going Deeper as it is the place where they will have the opportunity to hear about Jesus. At Going Deeper we have tons and tons and TONS of fun together. We play games including Twister, Jenga, dance mats, pool etc. as a way of showing God’s love (fellowship) and being interested in each. Each week the young people take the leaders on in a challenge which usually results in the leaders looking very silly!

At Going Deeper we run short seminar groups which allow young people to look at the Bible, ask questions about faith and explore big topics together in small groups.

We believe that young people need not only to learn about Christianity but also need the chance to partake in the adventure of faith and following Jesus. At Going Deeper we pray for situations that matter to them, learn to listen to God and share testimonies with each other. Together, we have been spurred on in our faith as God has answered prayers and spoken through His still small voice.

Going Deeper focuses especially on 2 aspects of our purpose statement: Reaching and showing love.

Going Deeper EXTRA
Christ Church have a large community of young people in school years 8 & 9 who love Jesus and are hungry to grow in their relationship with Him. A year ago, we began a new group called Going Deeper Extra, which 15-20 young people regularly attend. We meet once a fortnight for an hour before Going Deeper. At Going Deeper EXTRA we eat together before splitting into a girls and a boys group. Those who attend Going Deeper Extra also stay for Going Deeper where they have a chance to develop their leadership; these young people then act as role models for those in year 6 & 7.

Going Deeper Extra meets the ‘growing’ and ‘whole life’ elements of our purpose statement.

Watford New Hope Trust Sleepout
In the Summer, at the request of one of our young people, we decided to invite Going Deeper & Rock Solid to partake in an organised sleepout to raise awareness and financial support for people who are homeless. We hope to do it again next Summer also.

Here are a few more photos to show you just how much fun we have together!
