Women’s Breakfast

RonelTalented and bubbly, Ronel Odendaal worked (pre-computers!) as a graphic designer on newspapers in her native South Africa, before marrying and moving to England in 1984. Now the mother of three adult children, she proved a natural when she strutted her stuff on the catwalk at a fund-raising fashion show for Christ Church in September 2012, making her quite possibly the most glamorous church warden ever. Yet like most women, she confesses to feeling she is never quite good enough.

When Ronel last spoke at a women’s breakfast nine years ago, her sister had recently been brutally murdered by intruders in her home in South Africa, an atrocity that would have dented many people’s faith. For Ronel however, it was a turning-point.

In an upbeat and inspiring talk entitled ‘Good Enough?’ November 21st Ronel will share the many challenges and blessings of her life since she became a Christian at the age of 15 and explain how her sister’s murder led her to volunteer for Prison Fellowship work in Category A prisons. Most of all, she aims to reassure us that despite our many imperfections, in God’s eyes, we are all more than ‘good enough’.
