Have you ever wondered what it must be like to spend time at Her Majesty’s Pleasure?
One man who knows more than most about life behind bars is prison chaplain Phil Chadder. A former probation officer, Phil left the Probation Service to train for ordination in the Church of England. After a four year curacy he went to HMP Brixton as chaplain, convinced that convicted criminals needed more than just good social work if they were going to turn their lives around. After eight years at Brixton he left to take up his current post and is now responsible for training prison chaplains. In a talk that is full of moving, uplifting and humorous anecdotes about both prison and human nature in general, Phil talks frankly about the rigours of his job and the rewards when someone comes to faith and truly changes his life, on the inside.
Breakfast, which is free and always delicious, is served from 8.30am and the morning will end by 10am. Please feel free to bring a friend, but do help the catering team by booking your place(s) on Tel 01923 282149 (the office at Christ Church) or by email to WBChristChurch@gmail.com
