The Lamb’s triumph
v.2 “I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder …”
These verses cast a light on the presence and part that angels play in God’s economy. As God’s messengers they proclaim that mercy is mixed with judgment.
We move into a quite different chapter in which the triumph of the Lamb of God is celebrated with a chorus of praise – the choir sang a new song. There is a sense in these verses that the story is moving smoothly towards its God-appointed climax. In the day in which we live we should also be aware that the arrow of time moves towards the moment that God has foreordained.
Lord Jesus Christ, thank you that your praises are sung at full volume! Thank you for composers of songs and hymns who have given so much to enrich the worship of your church on earth. We praise you that heaven is full of praise and celebration. I ask you to make me a worshipper in Spirit and in truth. Amen.
