Daily Discipleship started as a six-week journey through the Gospel of Mark and the book of Acts. Reading a chapter a day, we were encouraged to reflect upon how God is speaking to us through the passage.
As the weeks passed more and more people joined the journey and so we’ve decided to keep going!
The reflections, written by members of the staff and congregation, follow a method known by the acronym SOAP. After reading the daily passage we’re encouraged to write down a sentence for each of the following:
S – Scripture: Jot down a particular verse or part of verse that spoke to you.
O – Observation: What you think God is saying to you through this verse?
A – Application: How does this apply to your life? Is it an encouragement, an instruction, a correction, a promise? Personalise what you have read.
P – Prayer: Write a simple prayer of response, perhaps asking God to help you apply the scripture or thanking God for his words of comfort.
Daily reflections, as well as some comments from those who get the studies, are available on the blog, by email from firstname.lastname@example.org, in print from the office, or through Christ Church’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
For some this journey will be private, whereas others will benefit from sharing with others. For this reason, those who wish to can share their daily reflections with others through Facebook, Twitter, or through email. For all, this journey will be worthwhile.
So join the Christ Church community as we journey on with God. Sign up today to receive the daily readings and reflections by emailing to email@example.com or by following us on Facebook or Twitter.
