The overall vision for Christ Church is captured in eight words: “God’s love: know it, show it, share it, declare it”. To help us in that aim, and following a lot of discussion and prayer, the vicar and wardens have launched a special appeal to the congregation to gain support for employing someone who is expert in musicianship, in the leading of worship and who has a passion to work with our 14-18 year old age group.
The role would start in September 2018 and it is proposed that the post, which would be for three years initially, would be 70% worship ministry and 30% youth ministry. Full details are in the letters given out at the services last Sunday (copies available under the tower) and to download Worship Minister appeal letter. The total cost of this proposed new post will be c. £110,000 – including salary, National Insurance, expenses and a much needed housing allowance for this area.
Because this appointment would be a very big step for us as a church family, and requires significant resources to be pledged, we will be holding some special times of prayer from 8pm on Sunday evenings in the Children’s Room on 4th and 11th March. We would encourage as many as feel able to join us at these special times of seeking the Lord’s leading in this matter.
Please also consider prayerfully your own financial giving in the light of this opportunity, to see if you feel able to support this new post. At this stage we are looking for pledges to meet the cost; no standing orders should be amended or one-off gifts made until final approval of the post has been agreed by the PCC later this month, but it is critically important that we can identify that we will be able to meet the specific financial commitments.
Do speak to David Hall or the wardens if you have any questions!
