January 7th – David Hall

Dear friends

Happy New Year and a huge thank you to everybody who helped us pull-off our biggest Christmas yet, with no less than eight services and more than 1,500 people through our doors in just 24 hours!  This Christmas gave us a wonderful opportunity to welcome our whole community in to hear a message of Christian hope.

The welcome began when we gave out invitations at the late night Christmas shopping in Chorleywood, knocked on hundreds of doors in our parish and personally invited friends and family to Christmas events. Isn’t it fantastic when the church family steps forward with new confidence and starts to engage with new people and faces in our community!

The church looked spectacular, decked with flowers and candles, creating a wonderful Christmas atmosphere, so huge thanks to our flower team for setting the mood so superbly!

The welcome then continued with the heroic efforts of our car parking team out in the snow and rain, and then all those involved in the logistics, hospitality, leading, preaching, music and all-important clear-up – thank you!

In Psalm 40 v3, the psalmist says

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.

Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him”.

We rejoice with those who joined us over the Christmas period and perhaps glimpsed new hope for the first time.  Pray for them, that they will follow-up this initial contact with the message and begin to engage regularly with the church family.

AlphaPray also for all new initiatives starting up reaching both young and old, particularly the brand new revamped Alpha course which our curates will be running within the Discovery programme from Thursday 1st February.

On Sunday 14th January, we start our three-week focus on “serving”.  Let’s wait on the Lord in expectant prayer and ask him how we can play our part in his plan to bless our community in 2018.

Thank you for all you do in our shared ministry as a church family.  May the Lord bless you and all those dear to you in 2018.
