Impact Youth Ministry exist to share the way of Jesus with our friends and family, to show them His love and to grow passionate followers of God who seek to worship Him with their whole lives.
On Sunday evening, Suzanna Ling was preaching on when Jesus appears to his disciples from John 20:19-23.
One of the things that struck me in the passage is that the peace of Jesus is the perfect antidote to fear. In the passage it says, ‘the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews’. Jesus came in and twice said to them, ‘peace be with you’. The disciples were transformed from fear-filled men locked away in hiding into courageous missionaries, carrying the Good News about Jesus far and wide, many of them ultimately being martyred for their faith in Jesus.
It’s a funny old term, exam term. Exams probably won’t be the only thing filling you with fear – maybe you experience a fear of the future, a fear of people, fear of awkward situations, fear of being misunderstood or left out, a fear of sickness not getting better, a fear of being found out, a fear of failure or rejection…the list goes on. While fear can seem all-consuming and inescapable it isn’t because the peace of Jesus, which is freely given, is the perfect antidote to fear.
Maybe you need to hear Jesus speak it over you again, as he did to the disciples:
‘Peace be with you.’ (vs 19)
‘Peace be with you.’ (vs 21)
May the powerful peace of Jesus be with you each step of this term, dear friends.
With tons of love,
