“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Galatians 4: 4-7
I’ve just got a very short reflection for you today on something I’ve been thinking and praying about for the last few weeks.
You see, I don’t think we in this country really understand that we are deeply loved by God. We know it as a concept and we can point to Bible verses that explain it, but I don’t think we really understand just how much he does actually love us; that we are sons and daughters of the creator of the universe and what that means.
If we did, if you and I truly understood in our hearts that the all-powerful, almighty God is also the kind, perfect, loving Father and that you and I are his children, it would change us. We would live differently. We would go out onto the streets not feeling embarrassed or ashamed to be a Christian, not ashamed of what we know and what we have, but confident to share that love with those around us. We would live like deeply loved sons and daughters of God. Our churches wouldn’t be shrinking, they would be growing as other people caught glimpses of the light that is God that we carry with us.
I’d encourage you to ask God to show you who you really are. To show you that you are his child and to teach you what that means.
