1 Corinthians Introduction

CorinthCorinth was a cosmopolitan city, a thriving seaport and a major trade centre – a very important city in the first century AD.   Paul had established his church there during his second missionary journey (Acts 15, 36 to 18, 22).   This young church struggled with the corrupt environment of the city and its members felt the pressure to conform to every conceivable temptation.   Paul in his letter addresses the problems, provides clear solutions and teaches the believers how they can live a godly life in a corrupt society.
